Chapter 18: Theory of Exponents - Exercises
Simplify and express with positive exponents:
\(a^3 \times a^{-5}\)
\((x^{-2})^{-3}\)
\(\frac{x^{\frac{1}{2}}}{x^{\frac{1}{3}}}\)
\((8a^3)^{-\frac{1}{3}}\)
Evaluate: \(5^0 + 4^{-1} - \left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^{-2}\)
Answer Key
\(\frac{1}{a^2}\)
\(x^6\)
\(x^{\frac{1}{6}}\) or \(\sqrt[6]{x}\)
\(\frac{1}{2a}\)
\(1 + \frac{1}{4} - 4 = -\frac{11}{4}\) or \(-2\frac{3}{4}\)
